Gaining the attention of your dog is the next step after making a connection with your dog. This is what needs to be done to control or manage your dog with different commands in different conditions. If you can get your dog to pay attention to you, then so many commands become way easier. With out getting your dogs attention, it seems like nyour dog does not hear you or is ignoring you.

When gaining a dogs attention, all that needs to be done is hold that food up to your mouth / nose area and call your dogs name, then once you make eye contact, feed the food with praise. First start with your dog on leash and harness.
