Taking Your Dog To Dog Parks / Socializing
Taking Your Dog To Dog Parks / Socializing -
You need to stay by your dog, period. Just in case your dog reacts negatively to another dog, or vice versa, you need to be there. People tend to get social at the dog park and forget that their dog is there.
Not all dogs like every other dog, just like humans. This is normal and OK. There are many reasons why a dog might be wary of or not like other dogs.
People have alot of societal expectations at the dog park. These are all natural behaviors. The problem is that active dogs will partake in many of these actions and will be constantly reprimanded over and over again. This can wear a dog down and not be so much fun. The thing is, that responsible owners / handlers are going to be the ones on their dogs more than the others and this singles out their dogs more often. This is unfair, as theses dogs get all of the corrections while the dogs not being paid attention to just get away with it all. Now the dog with responsible owner / handler is getting 3 - 4 times the corrections that it should.
